About this experience

Availability

Summer season: May-Sept

Duration

Allow 3,5 – 4 hours for this combo experience. Depending on the size and shape of the group, along with weather conditions.

Included

All safety equipment, ride to the starting point from the meeting point, certificated guided hike, three ziplines and a tandem paragliding flight.

You will need

Hiking shoes and warm, windproof clothes – dress according to the weather; gloves and a thin beanie are optional. We recommend braiding long hair or tying it in a low bun to fit under the helmet.

Meeting Point

Víkurbrat 5, Vík í Mýrdal, South Iceland (check map). Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your departure time.

Weather

Sometimes we need to change departure times slightly due to the weather. Please check your email before your booked time and leave us a phone number so we can call or text you in case we have to contact you with changes in the schedule.

Paragliding
We’ll meet up at our base in Vík. If you arrive early, feel free to use the restroom facilities, use Wi-Fi and sip a cup of tea or coffee before our guides come to meet you. There will be a short weather assessment upon arrival, and if everything looks promising, you’ll jump in our 4×4 and drive up to the nearest mountain for the paragliding take-off. On top, we’ll have a safety briefing, and you will get instructions regarding the flight. This is a tandem instructional flight, so don’t worry; we won’t send you off into the unknown, and you’ll be safely attached to your instructor.
The flying time depends significantly on the weather; it can last up to 30 minutes. After landing, most likely on the Black Sand Beach, we drive back to our meeting point, get refreshed and head onto our next adventure.

Zipline
Again you will be briefed on safety protocols, get dressed up in a harness and helmet and drive to the zipline start. We start by hiking to the first of 3 ziplines. We will give you detailed safety instructions and ensure you are comfortable with what to do during the experience so you will enjoy our ziplines to the fullest and stay safe. Once you’re ready, you wait your turn, and the next thing you know, you are zipping above the canyon, heart pumping with excitement. Then we take a short hike through the unique rock formation of Grafargil (Grave Canyon) to the next activity, Leap of Faith. Lastly, the second zipline, Little Rush, will take you over a stunning waterfall named Hundafoss. Last but not least, we have a short hike back to our base if the weather permits.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY

Dress according to the weather. Iceland can often get cold and wet, so wind and rainproof clothes are usually good.

UNTANGLE

COME RAIN OR SHINE

Tours operate rain or shine. If we cancel, we’ll try to contact you to reschedule or give you a refund.

Your TFI’s

Knowing what to expect is always good, so we’ll give you a little preview of your Tandem Flight instructors. One of them or both will likely accompany you on the ziplines.

Þráinn

Þráinn started paragliding in the summer of 2013 and is so lucky to have these beautiful mountains all around him, here, in the little town of Vík, so that he could spend every flyable breeze in the air. If he’s not flying tandems, you’ll spot him on his solo, testing out the latest acrobatic move he’s mastering. During winter, Þráinn likes to go to Spain and spread his wings for some time, but he always ends up in Vík again. His local knowledge of the area is admirable, so if you have him as your pilot, ask away; he knows things.

Sammi

Sammi started paragliding during the long summer days of Iceland in 2009 and was instantly hooked. Since then, he has travelled the world with his paraglider, finally settling on dividing his flying time between Vík in the summer and Cape Town during the southern hemisphere summer. You will probably never catch this guy without a smile, and it might come in handy to know he’s frequently named; The Happy Hippo.

Paragliding

Beautiful experience above the stunning scenery along the South Coast of Iceland. The wind direction rules where the location of your flight will take place.

NEED SOMETHING MORE CUSTOM? YOU DREAM IT, WE’LL MAKE IT HAPPEN

Do you have a big group or just a small group wanting privacy? Want to entertain your staff or add to the activities in Vík? Whatever it is, we can customize it to your needs. Get in touch.

Hiking boots

Remember your hiking boots! You will be travelling in Iceland, our terrain is more or less untouched, and we would like to keep it that way. That’s why we don’t make concrete walking paths in the landscape but follow narrow, uneven sheep trails along our trails. Hiking boots help when the route is wet and slippery and support your ankles if you are unused to walking on uneven surfaces.
