Experience the rush of a zip line ride above a glacier mill at Vatnajökull glacier, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding terrain. After this exhilarating adventure, the tour continues with exploring the Vatnajökull Glacier, where you’ll step into a mesmerizing ice cave.

Requirements & preparations
Check your age
You must be age 8 or older. A legal guardian must acompany or sign to allow kids under 18 to zip.
Break out the scale
Participents must weigh between 30 – 120 kg. (65-260 lbs.)
PROTECT YOUR FEET
Wear hiking boots. Water resistant is preferred. Rentals are available under extras.
take a breather
You must be able to hike ca. 3 km. (or 1-2 miles) at elevation and over uneven surface.
Be Waterproof
Waterproof Jacket and Pants are essential. Rentals are available under extras.
Pregnant ladies
Sorry, it’s not safe to zipline while you’re pregnant. See you when you’ve become a mom. 🙂
ARRIVE EARLY
Check in 15 minutes prior to your tour time. Please remember not to be late! Come ready to get outside your comfort zone and have a blast!
DRESS APPROPRIATELY
Dress according to weather, Iceland can often get cold and wet so wind and rainproof clothes are usually a good idea.
UNTANGLE
Tie your hair up (either braid it or tie it in a low bun) so it won’t get tangled.
COME RAIN OR SHINE
Tours operate rain or shine. If we do cancel, we’ll make every effort to contact you to reschedule or refund the tour.

The whole tour takes 6 hours. Depending on the size and shape of the group, along with weather conditions.

You will need
- Hiking Boots: Water resistant is preferred. Rentals are available under extras.
- Waterproof Jacket & Pants: Rentals are available under extras.
- Proper Seasonal Clothing: Warm layers for freezing or wet conditions. Warm hat and gloves.
- Water Bottle (Recommended): You will have many spots to fill with glacier water.

Ice Pick Journeys at the Glacier Lagoon Parking Lot. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your departure time.
Weather
Occasionally, we may need to adjust departure times due to weather conditions. Please check your email before your scheduled departure and provide us with a phone number so we can call or text you if there are any changes to the schedule.
Meet, greet & 4×4
As you arrive at the Glacier Lagoon parking lot (see map above), in Vatnajokull National Park, your Ice Pick Journeys guide will greet you to embark on a unique adventure. You will board a 4×4 vehicle for a captivating journey to Vatnajokull Glacier, where your guide will share the intriguing history of the surrounding area, making the scenic ride through an ancient glacier plain even more fascinating.
Glacier hike
This exclusive experience, available only through Ice Pick Journeys, will make you feel privileged and excited to be part of such a unique adventure. Embark on a 30-minute hike to the glacier’s edge, enjoying the relatively easy walk on flat, slightly rocky ground as your guide leads the way. This hike suits most fitness levels, and your guide will adjust the pace to accommodate the group. Once at the glacier, you will secure your crampons into the ice and venture onto the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, experiencing the unique sensation of hiking on ice. As you proceed, your guide will introduce you to different formations on the glacier known as moulins or deep glacial holes, all while admiring the barren landscape surrounding you.
Glacier zipline
After the exhilarating glacier hike, get ready for the highlight of the day- the heart-pounding, unforgettable zip line adventure on the glacier. Feel the rush as you make epic jumps on the zip line, savoring the feeling of being among the few to have experienced this memorable adventure. This thrilling experience will leave you exhilarated and eager for more.
Homebound
Following the zip line adventure, hike back to the glacier parking lot and embark on a 30-minute drive back to the Glacier Lagoon, concluding your day with cherished memories of an extraordinary journey within Vatnajokull National Park.
